Path to 100%
You're at 28 combined (rounds to 30%).
The threshold nobody knows: 100% requires a combined value of 95 — not 100.
You need 67 more points of combined value.
A new condition rated 100% or higher would reach 100%.
Raising Condition 1 (20%) to 100% would reach 100%.
Raising Condition 2 (10%) to 100% would reach 100%.
TDIU (Total Disability based on Individual Unemployability) is a separate pathway to full compensation — not covered by this calculator. Learn about TDIU on VA.gov.

How the VA calculates combined ratings
The VA applies each rating to your remaining “whole person” — not a simple sum. Example: 20% + 20% = 36% (not 40%), which rounds to 40%. Ratings are sorted highest to lowest, and rounded to a whole number after every step. Paired left/right arm or leg ratings get an extra 10% bilateral factor (§ 4.26) before combining with the rest. Dependent adders (spouse, children, parents) apply only at 30% or higher.
